Sustainability

Imtech believes in sustainability. Throughout its operation, the company strives for the right balance between People, Planet and Profit.

Imtech makes a significant contribution to society though the efficient and profitable operation of its business, contributing to the economic well being of its staff, suppliers and shareholders.

The company seeks always to balance this with a concern for social and environmental aspects of its business, creating a long term sustainable approach which benefits its stakeholders and community.

To be effective such a commitment must be given focus and practical implementation. Imtech has identified five key elements of its business through which it will give practical effect to its commitment.

Environment

Imtech in the UK has committed to responsible management of the impact of its operations on the environment by adopting ISO 14000 as the standard to which it strives to deliver its environmental responsibilities.

Group management procedures are driven to this standard and existing subsidiaries are accredited to it. Where, as in the case of Goodmarriott & Hursthouse, an acquired business does not yet have the standard Imtech commits to, a plan to have the business accredited within an agreed time frame is implemented.

Access to the resources of a pan European group provides the company with the facility to continually examine aspects of the business and seek ways to improve it.

For example, Imtech is currently working with its European colleagues to find ways to make its total fleet more environmentally friendly.

Sustainable energy

Imtech believes that it will make a significant contribution towards the environment by utilising its unique position as a technical provider across Europe to drive technological solutions to environmental problems.

Imtech is in a unique position to collaborate with clients and suppliers to provide these solutions, and to spread the use of appropriate solutions. Already it has provided the know how to deliver a large bio mass generating station in Austria and is currently delivering a programme of projects generating electricity from Biosolids for Anglian water.  This project, for example, reduces waste spread to land, generates electricity from alternative sources and reduces the traffic volume associated with transporting untreated sludge. A perfect example of the balance between Profit, Planet and People.

These individual successes point the way to the enormous opportunity to positively engage with environmental challenges and positively meet them. Imtech is systematically building on its experience with these and other projects by seeking opportunities to provide sustainable energy solutions though its knowledge of processes and products and ability to advise clients on profitable opportunities to maximise energy use.

Engagement in the community

Imtech in the UK is proud of its involvement in the community in which it operates. It has established links with schools promoting opportunities in its industry, as well as supporting a range of initiatives aimed at supporting those with less advantages.

Imtech is proud to be an employer with a diverse employment base and is actively working with the European Group to continue to ensure that its profile remains attractive to all, irrespective of background.
