Jeroen Bosch opts for the most modern technology
The quality of a building, and especially of a hospital building, is largely determined by the technical systems and facilities incorporated in it. Technology has become a crucial factor for the smooth operation of the primary process, also in healthcare. So in order to be able to optimally implement a development like the electronic patient file, the Jeroen Bosch Hospital is opting for the most advanced technical solution.
Imtech is responsible for all electrical engineering systems in the construction of the Jeroen Bosch Hospital. That includes the nursing call system, the security systems, CCTV, intercom, parking system, and the complete telephone and data infrastructure. These are essential services that largely determine the comfort and sense of security of patients, visitors and employees. It is more pleasant to work in a safe, accessible building provided with all the modern conveniences. The technical systems are also of great importance to creating a healing environment. Another reason to invest in technology is that the perception factors mentioned above weigh heavily in a patient’s choice of a hospital. That is why the Jeroen Bosch Hospital has opted for the most modern technology.

Innovations
Developments in technology, especially for specific solutions in healthcare, are moving along rapidly. What we considered impossible just yesterday is already being applied today. Imtech is regularly part of introducing innovations, last summer with the implementation of an end-to-end IP solution. Thanks to the integration of an IP-based domotics, nursing call system, and data and telecommunication infrastructure, patients at a healthcare facility in The Hague can use a touch screen to order meals, request medicine, or open a speaking-listening connection with the nursing staff, who are equipped with WIFI based handsets. The traditional systems can all be thrown out. The communication possibilities are increasing dramatically at lower operational and management costs.
Electronic patient file
The Jeroen Bosch Hospital wants to have the most modern application of the electronic patient file when it opens for operation in 2010. Because of rapid developments in technology, it has not yet been decided what form that will take exactly. Who knows what kinds of new solutions will be developed in the meantime. What has been decided is that the complete medical file of every patient must be electronically accessible. That will take place via a wireless LAN. The nursing call system, telephone and CCTV systems will all make use of this network. The infrastructure will be extremely flexible, changes will be quick and easy to make.
Frontrunner
Imtech is at home in the healthcare industry and made a strategic choice for the sector long ago. The Imtech Care & Cure competence centre has amassed extensive expertise over the course of the years, not only on the role of technology in healthcare, but also on developments in intra and extramural care itself; on financing and operation and on innovation. This allows Imtech to really contribute strategic, tactical and operational ideas for the future of buildings and the technology involved in them. With initiatives like Care à la Carte (kitchen management system) and Humas (domotics applications in healthcare), Imtech is a frontrunner in developing innovative solutions. Imtech is also part of important platforms like Vita Valley, the RFID platform and Nederland Breedbandland [the Netherlands Broadband Nation]. Imtech’s expertise in the domain of healthcare is brushed up on a daily basis since the company is active in more than half of all Dutch hospitals and healthcare centres, often in the maintenance of technical systems. Imtech has also signed a ten-year maintenance contract with the Jeroen Bosch Hospital. By providing optimal service Imtech hopes to contribute to better care. Under the motto: we take care of the technology, you take care of the result, shared success.
