University Fund Delft introduces Imtech Grants and UfD-Imtech Fund

December 5 2007

Gouda / Delft – Technical services provider Imtech is to introduce the UfD-Imtech Fund on 1 January 2008 in collaboration with the University Fund Delft. The aim of the fund is to encourage technology education at the Technical University Delft and to award the annual Imtech Grants representing a total of 10,000 euro for students who have written an outstanding bachelor report.

The presentation of Awards for Excellence is one of the main objectives of the University Fund Delft (UfD), which also sponsors the Lecturer Prize for professors, for example, and the annual awards for the top graduates in the eight faculties of TU Delft. The UfD-Imtech Fund is the first of the university’s funds to carry the name of a company. The UfD-Imtech Fund is specifically aimed at advancing those fields of study that are directly related to the markets in which Imtech is active: buildings, industry, maritime and infra/mobility.

Imtech will contribute a sum of 30,000 euro to the University Fund, from which an annual 10,000 euro in Imtech Grants will be awarded to students who have written an excellent bachelor report. Basically there will be five Imtech Grants with a maximum of 2,000 euro each per year.

The jury that will issue the awards consists of five people: three professors from different faculties, a member of the board of the University Fund Delft and an Imtech representative. The jury will evaluate the submissions on the basis of a number of criteria, including: innovativeness, boldness, degree of multidisciplinary technology (collaboration between different fields of study), practical applicability, communicative appeal and the extent to which socially responsible research is concerned. The subject of the bachelor report will have to fit to the activities of Imtech.

The final jury will be compiled towards the end of 2007 and students will be invited to submit their reports at the beginning of 2008. The jury will conclude its assessment at the end of February. The festive awarding of the Imtech Grants will take place on 25 March 2008.

Imtech’s aim with this initiative is to foster relations with technical education in general, and the Technical University Delft in particular.
