Black Box at sea
July 23 2007
The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has mandated the Simplified Voyage Data Recorder (S-VDR) for carriage on the majority of large sea going vessels. It is a system similar to the aviation ‘black box’ recorder. In order to supply all its customers with a good, cost-efficient product, Imtech (Radio Holland Group) recently entered into a long-term partnership with Danalec Marine. Their Danelec Marine S-VDR is among the most compact and lightweight systems on the market. By now, Imtech is working to implement the S-VDR on dozens of ships.
