QHSE poster to figure in all Imtech projects
The Imtech SafeTecq® Trophy 2009 was won by Imtech Marine & Offshore, headed by Imtecher Edu Karelse with an initiative to keep colleagues on their toes on the shop floor when it comes to QHSE. Supported by his colleagues, he hit on the idea of developing an QHSE poster combining all practical information about safety, health and the environment during a project. He received the huge trophy from Boudewijn Gerner, member of the Imtech Executive Board (left).
The poster made by Edu Karelse is placed at a central position in the project. 'Everybody walks past it, so you remain alert to what is expected of you,' says Karelse. Other entries were also spotlighted on the Imtech Safetecq day. Karelse says safety at work is a matter that concerns everybody. 'Treat it seriously and hold other people accountable professionally but amicably for working safely. These QHSE posters will shortly be put up at all Imtech projects,' he says. Two other nominated entries were the ideas of Gertjan Hoornstra (Imtech Roll Out Services) to keep the tyres of Imtech vehicles at the right pressure so as to drive more economically, safely and CSR-aware, and of Michelle Nieuwenhuis (Radio Holland) to reduce the physical strain on engineers and technicians by means of a course in working techniques.
