Orders worth 18 million euro in Eastern Europe
Gouda, The Netherlands - Imtech N.V. (technical service provider in Europe) has won orders totalling approximately 18 million euros in Romania and Poland. The orders are for embedding technology at a PVC plant, three hypermarkets and a cigarette factory.
Over the past few years Imtech has significantly strengthened its position as a multi-disciplinary technical service provider in Europe. The company already holds strong market positions in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. The Imtech strategy is to use these established market positions as a springboard for intensifying activities in the former East Bloc including the new EU member states. Imtech wants to continue building up its order portfolio in these countries through projects for new and existing clients. The company has own support offices in Warsaw and Prague specifically for this purpose.
This strategy has now clinched an order from the state-owned Romanian chemical company Oltchim for the technical upgrading and expansion of an existing PVC plant in Valcea. Global demand for PVC is currently increasing rapidly. The new plant plans to meet this growing demand. The plant produces high-quality PVC powder used principally as a semi-manufacture in the production of PVC tubes and lines. Ventilex, part of Imtech Technology, possesses specialised process knowledge and advanced drying technology (fluid bed technology) for the fine chemical, feed & food and mineral industries. Ventilex will install a total of three PVC dewatering and drying lines as the final stage of the process of upgrading and expanding the factory.
Selgros Cash & Carry is a major client of Imtech Deutschland. Imtech is one of the preferred technology partners of Selgros in Germany. Based on the existing good partnership, Imtech has been asked to act as the technology partner in expanding Selgros sites in the former East Bloc. Imtech is involved through its office in Warsaw in the technical equipping of three major hypermarkets (including technology for air conditioning, heating, climate control, sprinklers, security and plumbing) varying in size from approximately 15,000 m2 to 18,000 m2. The three hypermarkets are located at Poznan in Poland and in Brasov and Bucharest in Romania. Imtech is also working in Poland for cigarette manufacturer BAT (British American Tobacco). At a new BAT factory, Imtech is providing technology for heat, water, compressed air, sprinklers, air conditioning, heating and climate control systems for several production areas.
These latest orders follow an order worth 13 million euros that Imtech announced in December 2003 for providing the complete onboard technology for a Polish Navy corvette with an option covering another six corvettes (with a value of 50 million euros).
